What is the real story of Valentine Day?

An 8th-century Galacian sacramentary records the celebration of the feast of St

Valentine on February 14. Today it is associated with romantic love

when notions of courtly love flourished in the 14th and 15th centuries.

It was a very common name during Late Antiquity.

As anyone can tell, Valentine's Day's Saint Valentine was one of two men

preaching the good word in Rome in the third century.

One of these two was martyred on February 14, 269, thus giving us the date for his namesake day.

The day is popular in the United States as well as Britain, Canada, and Australia,
